Regina Joseph says, “By the time young the German nurse met Joe on a ship crossing the Atlantic on the way to New York in 1923, he had started to receive a little notoriety for his fitness concept. But in many ways, it was she who paved the way for “Contrology,” as they called it, to grow into the multimillion-dollar Pilates industry of today.”
That’s giving Joe his due and then saying ignore it, it doesn’t matter, Clara was much more important. As though Einstein’s housekeeper was more important that Einstein because she didn’t erase his blackboard.
This kind of wishful thinking, slanted writing, is all an indication of how desperate everyone is to establish and elevate the importance of who they are and who they know that knew Joe.
Joe’s mat work was in place before he was a teenager. The mat work is the method. Once the mat work was established, waaaay before he ever met Clara, the method spoke for itself.
To try to diminish Joe’s accomplishment in any way, is an insult to that accomplishment. He was “the Man”, it was his method. No “but’s” about it.
