Asking permission to touch is always poilite.
Speak loud enough, and always allow time to process what you say.
Be close to get it started and get give distance to allow them to focus.
Don’t ask how is it or can you feel it, because it makes an expectation of them to know what you’re talking about when usually they don’t. Better is to ask where do you feel this?
